There are a quite a few marquee state tournaments this weekend. Pennsylvania, Oklahoma, Nevada, North and South Carolina, Louisiana, Montana, and Alabama all crown individual or team state champions this week. The following is a breakdown of the upcoming weeks happenings.

Pennsylvania Dual Meet State Wrestling Tournament – 3A: District champions with byes into the quarterfinals include Council Rock South (district 1) and Northampton (11) up top, with Connellsville (7) and Central Dauphin (3) in the bottom half. Teams that have advanced into the Friday rounds of the tournament, round of 12, are the following district champions – Erie Cathedral Prep (10), Hazleton (2), Central Mountain (6), and St Mary’s (9). Wrestling in play-in matches on Tuesday night for the right to face these district champions are: Langley (district 8 champ) vs. Penn-Trafford (district 7 runner-up), Shikellamy (district 4 champ) vs. Cumberland Valley (district 3 runner-up), Council Rock North advancing with a bye, and Nazareth (district 11 runner-up) vs. Quakertown (district 1 third).

Teams that have advanced into the Friday rounds of the tournament, round of 12, are the following district champions – Northwestern Lehigh (11), Bedford (5), Berwick (2), and Mount Union (6). Wrestling in play-in matches on Tuesday night for the right to face these district champions are: Ridgway (district 9 champ) vs. Forest Hills (district 6 runner-up), Shady Side Academy (district 7 runner-up) vs. Harbor Creek (district 10 runner-up), Octorara (district 1 champ) vs. Brandywine Hts (district 3 runner-up), and Mt Carmel (district 4 runner-up) vs. Northern Lehigh (district 11 runner-up).
Oklahoma Dual Meet State Wrestling Tournament : The state tournament for each of the four classifications will be held this weekend at Yukon High School. Carl Albert High School will host Friday wrestling for divisions 2A and 4A, Yukon for 3A and 5A, with all Saturday competition at Yukon.
2A- Perry and Marlow are the top two teams in the state and are in different halves of the draw. The first round (quarterfinals) does place #2 Marlow vs. #4 Barndsall.
3A- Cushing is the number one ranked team and in the opposite half of the second (Tuttle) and third (Locust Grove) ranked teams.
4A- Sides are balanced with #2 Harrah and #3 Duncan up top, and #1 Catoosa and #4 El Reno on the bottom.
5A- #1 and #3 are on the bottom half, Broken Arrow and Union; #2 and #4 are up top, Ponca City and Midwest City.

Montana Individual State Wrestling Tournament: Defending state championship teams are Kalipsell (Flathead) in AA (big-school), Havre in class A, and Glasgow in B/C (small-school). For further information and brackets, click the following link- http://www.mhsa.org/

North Carolina Dual State Wrestling Tournament: Allegheny is the top-ranked dual meet team in the 1A (small-school) bracket. Topsail is the second-ranked team in that division, but in the opposite half of the sixteen team bracket. The 2A tournament has a bracket with 32 teams. The top two teams in the most recent poll, Orange and McMichael, happen to be in the same round of 16 “pod”. The highest ranked team in the other half is Newton-Conover. Within class 3A, the top two teams are again in the same round of 16 “pod” – Trinity and Parkland. Morehead leads the other half of the draw, which has only one other top ten team in Havelock. In the big-school division (Class 4A), there is the most balance among the brackets as the top four teams are in different quarters - #1 Cary and #3 Chapel Hill up top with #2 Davie County and #4 Butler down bottom.

4A- Quarterfinal pairings: #6 Lexington vs. #5 Rock Hill, #1 Hillcrest vs. #3 Fort Mill; #4 Fort Dorchester vs. #10 Dutch Fork, #2 Summerville vs. #11 Battery Creek
3A- Quarterfinal pairings: #1 Eastisde vs. #7 Riverside, #12 Belton-Honea Path vs. #4 Lugoff-Elgin; #2 Chapin vs. #5 Bluffton, #3 Hilton Head vs. #6 North Myrtle Beach
