The finalists are Nazareth and Northampton in Class AAA and Northern Lehigh and Northwestern Lehigh in Class AA.

As usual, there was high drama involved in some the teams making it this far. Nazareth made it by upsetting archrival Easton, 29-25, to avenge a regular-season loss to the Red Rovers, who protested Ryan Krecker’s bout-winning cement job of Mark Hartenstine in the closing seconds at 125 pounds.

Krecker’s win, achieved with an illegal headlock according to the Easton coaching staff, erased a 3-0 deficit, lifted him to a 4-3 decision and clinched the Blue Eagles’ win. That gave them a berth in the state duals regardless of the outcome of tonight’s final against Northampton.

Northern Lehigh needed dramatic victories by heavyweight Jonathan Troxell, Brandon Olewine (171) and Casey Hedash (215) to pull out a 33-27 victory over Saucon Valley.

In the other semifinal matches, Northampton took out Blue Mountain 47-12 and Northwestern was a 43-27 winner over Lehighton.
