HSWrestling.Net State Editor Application

State EditorsWelcome to HSWrestling.Net, the High School Wrestling Resource. We are still in the process of finalizing our Rankings database, and would love the help from some of you! High School Wrestling rankings are issued the 1st and 15th of each month from October 15th through March 1st (or prior to your state tournament). Applications are not automatically accepted, so please take care in presenting us with as much information about yourself as possible.

Compensation: You receive 50% of the contextual advertisement space on your rankings page. This may sound confusing, but we will walk you through the process if you are accepted. Don’t expect your new position to replace your real job, but it could pay your phone bill each month.

  35. Name: Todd Welch
    State: Washington

  36. Name: Derek Matteson

    State: Pennsylvania

Website: Currently working on a PIAA District XII Wrestling Website. Should be done by November at the latest. I am looking to become the governing body for District XII on Tom Elling’s Pennsylvania Wrestling Network.

Wrestling Experience: Wrestled for about 6 years, though my first years began when I was 5. Wrestled Varsity at 125 in High School my senior year.

Why I want to be an editor: I am an enthusiastic fan of Pennsylvania Wrestling. Although I may not have the website experience or wrestling success of some of the other applicants for PA, I am very knowledgeable of the sport. I have been making the trip to the district, regional, the state tournaments since I was 9. The spectacle of this sport is overwhelming every time I watch it. I also do an excellent job of keeping up on the results of all the toughest in and out-of-state tournaments before the postseason begins. Wrestling only gets better for me each year that I watch it. I want to also help to ensure readers that the most accurate rankings are shown each year as well, without having any local bias involved. Many state rankings systems appear to show a local bias to the wrestlers that are from the publisher’s district. That is not what I aim for, and why I would like to have this job. It’s not about the money; it’s about fair and accurate rankings for the teams and wrestlers.
