 New Jersey Freshman Sensation Andrew Campolattano InterviewBound Brook freshman 189-pounder Andrew Campolattano looked on from the bleachers in front of the stage at the NJSIAA Wrestling Championships at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City late Sunday afternoon, taking in an award ceremony for Jackson Memorial High School star Scott Winston.

Jackson’s 160-pounder was feted for his remarkable career — a 137-0 career record, three state championships and a dominant run during the weekend — as a crowd of more than 10,000 gave him a standing ovation. Later, he was given the tournament’s outstanding wrestler award.

Rob Deutsch (33-5), a freshman from Eastern, Lou Mascola (35-2) of Seton Hall Prep, a freshman and Region 3 champion, senior Gerson Deleon (40-1) of Montclair, a first-time Region 4 champion, and top-seeded Charlie Frankel (34-3) of Marlboro, a senior who finished second in Region 6 but is the only wrestler in this weight class who placed in the state last year with a seventh-place finish.
