Iran started the day behind Russia 44-37 in the world team rankings. However, they caught a break when Kakhaber Khubezhty of Russia lost his first match. Iran got a 2nd place finish from Essadollah Akbari (Iran), who was bested in the finals by Olympic World Champion Jordan Burroughs. This gave Iran the 46-44 advantage over Russia to win the 2013 Team Worlds.
For Burroughs, it was his third straight world title at 74kg in men’s freestyle. All this despite recovering from a broken ankle suffered a month ago.

Day three of the World’s also saw the Women’s Freestyle Championship tournament begin. Two women’s weight classes began, and the winners had previously finished in the Silver medal spot the previous year.
