A former assistant wrestling coach at Genoa High School has been acquitted of sexual battery on a 17 year old student.
Army reservist Joseph Bergman says his life was turned upside down by the accusation.
The 29 year old was arrested and charged with one count of sexual battery in May 2012.
Bergman’s attorney and investigators were able to prove he didn’t have sex with the teen. But, Bergman admitted the text messages he exchanged with the 17 year old student crossed a professional line.
“it’s embarrassing, it’s embarrassing for me because I should have known better.”
Bergman is no longer employed as a coach at Genoa High School. He says his primary goal is to restore his name and get back to a normal life.
