Last weekend was a big one for amateur wrestling all around the country. The National Wrestling Hall of Fame Dan Gable Museum hosted a special autograph session with Dan Gable on Sunday April 7th. It capped off the final Folkstyle event of the season, the USA Wrestling Folkstyle Nationals.
Many set out to get an autograph from Dan Gable, and it is no surprise why. He is arguably the most accomplished wrestler (and coach), with an amazing 15 national titles in 21 years at Iowa University. His effort in the 1972 Olympics led him to the Gold Medal without surrendering a point.
The UNI Dome was the site of the festivities, with 26 mats being active at once. It is also the building that Dan Gable had a lot of his successes as a coach, including his final NCAA tournament victory.
