This weekend, wrestlers from across the country will have the opportunit to earn a National Championship. Over 2,000 wrestlers from as many as 40 representating states will travel to Tulsa, Oklahoma to compete in the 2013 CF Athletic Tulsa Nationals.
Called the world’s oldest, most prestigious junior wrestling event in the world, the 57th Annual Cliff Keen Tulsa Nationals wrestling tournament began Friday morning at the Expo Square Pavilion.
More than two-thousand wrestlers from 40 states between the ages of six and 15 began competing Friday morning for a national championship.
The double-elimination tournament got underway with opening ceremonies at 8 a.m. and the first matches started at 8:45. The competition continues through late Saturday night with wrestlers as small as 37 pounds and some in excess of 285 pounds competing.
Medals are awarded to first through sixth place with the outstanding wrestler in each age group receiving a trophy. There is also a trophy for team champion in each age group.
