Crowning three champions and getting three second place finishes, No. 21 Broken Arrow High School wrestling captured the coveted Geary Invitational Saturday night.
The Tigers, who had a third place and three sixth place finishes, nosed out Union, 143.5-138.
Markus Simmons (106 pounds), Chase Ferman (138) and Tanner Bailey (145) were gold medalists for the Tigers. Clay Archer (132), Brock Warren (170) and Seth Calvert (195) were runners up.
Paden Bailey (152) was third while Nathan Clark (126), Josh Foshee (160) and Mitchell Owens (182) picked up sixth place points.
In its 68th year, the Geary tournament is different than other regular season events. The first round is blind draw and wrestlers can challenge for second place.
“This is a tough tournament to win,” BAHS coach Shawn Jones said. “You’ve got to have a little luck in this one.”
BAHS won five of seven semifinal bouts and had a 1.5 lead over the Redskins going into the final session.
The Tigers enter the Sand Springs Invitational Jan. 13-14 and Jones is aware of history.
