Jimmy Gulibon (No. 3 @ 126) Out 2-3 Weeks with Slight MCL Tear

The Patriot-News has learned that Derry Area wrestler and three-time state champion Jimmy Gulibon (No. 3 @ 126) will be out 2-3 weeks with a slight MCL tear.

Gulibon suffered the injury in the second period of his 7-2 championship finals win over Blair Academy’s Maxwell Hvolbek at the Powerade Christmas Wrestling Tournament.

According to Derry head coach Mike Weinell, the injury didn’t require surgery. Gulibon has already started physical therapy on his knee and should be cleared to wrestle in a couple weeks.

Gulibon, a Penn State recruit, will be seeking a fourth straight state title this season. He is currently ranked 3rd in the nation by HSWrestling.net.  He will compete in the 126-pound weight class throughout the regular season and postseason.
