2011 High School Wrestling National Team Rankings (Dec. 27)

2011-2012 High School Wrestling

Team National Rankings

December 27th, 2011

The 2011-2012 high school wrestling season is going to be a great one on the national scene as the top spot can still be claimed by multiple teams.  The Clash X is this weekend, which puts the spotlight on Apple Valley to defend their crown.  The talent of teams attending is spectacular, and whichever team comes out on top deserves some serious credit. Good luck to all teams the next couple weeks, as big tournaments all around the country will push these teams to the limit.  The next round of national team rankings will be January 11th.

HSWrestling.net’s Top 25

1.  Apple Valley, MN  -  AV rolled over Simley at the MN Christmas Tournament, but if they want to win their 3rd straight national title this season, they’ll have to win the Clash Duals this weekend.  Apple Valley’s last loss came at the Clash 3 years ago.

2.  Blair Academy, NJ  -  Champions of the Walsh Ironman and Beast of the East Tournaments makes them a very strong case for the #1 team.  Competing at the Powerade Christmas Tournament this weekend.

3.  St. Edward, OH  -  Respectful Runner-up at the Walsh Ironman Tournament.  Needs to win the Clash Duals & Blair Academy match (Jan. 14) for a shot at the title.

4.  Brandon, FL  -  First big test of the year this weekend at the Clash.  They look to have a solid team, so we will see…

5.  St. Johns, MI  -  If only they were nationally tested.  Currently dominating Michigan wrestling.

6.  Clovis, CA  -  Representing California this weekend at the Clash.  Should face St. Paris Graham to get into the winners bracket.

7.  St. Paris Graham, OH  -  Fell short at the Ironman (3rd), but have a chance to make up for it at the Clash and in a dual against St. Edward on Jan. 21st.

8.  Wyoming Seminary, PA  -  4th at the Ironman, 2nd at the Beast of the East.  Looking for 6 straight Pennsylvania Prep Titles.  They wrestle at the Bethlehem Holiday Classic this weekend.

9.   Simley, MN  -  A little short-handed at the MN Christmas Tournament (2nd), but it probably wouldn’t have made up the difference.  They look to rebound at the Clash this weekend.

10.  Canon-McMillan, PA  -  First big test this weekend at the Powerade Christmas Tournament, but unfortunately they’ll be without Connor Schram.
