Destin McCauley of Apple Valley (MN) finished off his dominating career this season with a 53-0 record and took home his 5th Minnesota AAA State Championship. Racking up records at the state level, McCauley would pin 197 of his opponents over his high school tenure and finished with a career record of 286-7. McCauley heads off to the Olympic Traning Center with aspirations of qualifying for the 2012 Olympics before attending college in 2012 at The University of Wisconsin. Wrestling for the USA at the Dapper Dan Wrestling Classic, McCauley would lose his final high school match 6-4 to a slightly bigger Mike Ottinger (160) and would set the tone for the upset for Team Pennsylvania over the USA All-Stars. Hats off to a great career for HSWrestling.Net’s #2 preseason senior recruit.
Chance Marsteller of Kennard Dale (PA) could be the next big thing. Only a freshman, he performed like a veteran on his quest to be a 4x Pennsylvania State Champion. Marsteller went 42-0 this season and is the only freshman in Pennsylvanian to go undefeated and win an Individual State Title at 152 pounds or heavier. With legitimate arguments to rank Chance No. 1 @ 152, he’ll settle for the No. 2 spot with just about everything going for him. Drawing comparisons to a Cary Kolat career, the sky is the limit. Can Chance Marsteller live up to the hype?
No. 3 Roger Wildmo of Durand (MI) finished the season with a record of 59-0 and racking up 47 pins, capturing his 3rd Michigan Division 3 State Championship. Compiling a career record of 230-2, Wildmo isn’t familiar with losing. Wildmo kicked off the season with a 140 lbs. Super 32 Championship over Jason Tsirtsis (No. 1 @ 140) and then would cut back down to 140 for his 2011 FloNationals Championship. Roger Wildmo signed with Michigan State to wrestle next season and has all the talent and tools to be a very successful college wrestler.
