When long-time Sprague High School wrestling coach Kary Hadden resigned last spring, a search committee was formed to find a replacement.
On the committee were the usual assortment of athletic department staff members, school administrators and parents of wrestlers.
“I was excited about that,” Griffin said. “I love Hadden, and he’s a great coach, but having a new coach and seeing what he could bring to the team, too, it was exciting.
“We had three interviewees. I thought they were all interesting in their own regard. The main thing is when coach (Kyle) Temple went up there, I thought he had not only the best answers … but you could just see he was hungry for the job. He wanted to make a run for the state championship as a team.”
