2010-2011 High School Wrestling National Team Rankings

Apple Valley has done it again.  The High School Wrestling Season is complete and for the entire 2010-2011 season, Apple Valley held on to the No. 1 National Ranking.  Finishing the 2011 season undefeated with dominant performances week after week, Apple Valley can claim the title of a National Championship.

1. Apple Valley  (MN)

2011 HSWrestling National Champions

The deepest, most balanced wrestling team in the country finishes the 2010-2011 season undefeated after taking down both Blair Academy (NJ) and Brandon (FL) during the season.  Apple Valley will win their 3rd straight HS Wrestling National Team Title (2009 , 2010, 2011).  Next season, the field becomes wide-open as Apple Valley loses 6 Top Senior Starters.  Can they reload?

  4. ESPN RISE – Apple Valley Wrestling

Always reloading, Blair Academy finished off an impressive season with one of, if not, the toughest national schedule in the country.  Peaking during the 2nd half of the season, one has to wonder how an Apple Valley vs. Blair Academy dual meet would finish at years end.  The only exception is that High School National Titles are an entire season of accomplishments, and any let down during the season will have an effect on the end of the year rankings.  Blair Academy still finishes the season as the solid No. 2 rank.

  3.  Brandon (FL)

Dominating the Southeast region of the country hasn’t seemed too challenging for Brandon in recent years.  But as they continue to expand their national schedule, the better their chances of securing a National Title become.  Making the long trip to Minnesota for The Clash Duals this season gave them a shot at the title, but they fell short to a superior Apple Valley team, 34-16.  While Brandon is known for holding the national dual meet win streak at 459, Brandon’s journey for a National Title is only beginning…

  4.  St. Edward  (OH)

A slow start at the Ironman put St. Edward in a hole immediately.  But they battled back, finishing with a very respectable season.  Year after year, St. Edward has a shot at the National Title.  Claiming 11 National Championships already and the entire team returning next season, places St. Edward near the top for a 2012 National Title Run.

Season Recap:

Individual State Champions: 3 Champs

  2. St. Edward Ready for a 2012 National Title Run
  3. St. Edward Crowns 3 State Champs
  5.  St. Paris Graham  (OH)

The first half of the season went perfect for St. Paris Graham, until in-state rival St. Edward had something to say and pulled off the mid-season upset, 27-25, over then No. 2 Graham.  At the time, they were hoping to get Bo Jordan back in the lineup from injury, but was it possible they were looking ahead at Blair Academy.  Either way, the loss from St. Eds proved too costly, only to leave St. Paris Graham thinking “what could have been.”  Expect St. Paris Graham to come out next year with something to prove.
