The king is crowned once again.
After a year off, the (No. 4) St. Edward High School wrestling team went back to work in retaining a state wrestling championship.
The Eagles won their 26th overall state crown in front of over 14,000 fans inside Value City Arena in the Jerome Schottenstein Center on the campus of Ohio State with 187 points. (No.18) Massillon Perry was second with 109, while defending Division I champ Wadsworth finished third with 96 points.
St. Ed’s had six finalists with three earning state titles in Dean Heil (H.M. @ 119), Mark Martin (H.M. @ 152) and Domenic Abounader (H.M. @ 160). Heil won his second consecutive state championship. Teammates Edgar Bright (H.M. @ 112), Ty Walz (No.15 @ 215) and Greg Kugar (No.7 @ 285), however, lost their finals matches.
