Stephen Myers (H.M @ 125) Has Success With Different Team

Reading sophomore wrestler Stephen Myers (H.M @ 125) hopes to make another run at a coveted Ohio state title this weekend at Value City Arena.

A year ago, he was representing another school, as Myers transferred from Division I Moeller to Division III Reading. But Myers has produced similar success for both programs.

Myers improved to 46-0 this season with a 20-5 technical win against Bellville Clear Fork’s Alex Culler in a 125-pound first-round match Thursday. Myers will oppose Cuyahoga Falls’ Devin Decatur in today’s quarterfinals.

Last season for the Crusaders, Myers finished third at 112 pounds at state.

“There’s not that much difference,” Myers said of moving to a smaller division. “They expect me to dominate everybody. It’s not a lot easier, like people have been saying. You still have to work hard and try my hardest, same as last year.”
