Darick Lapaglia (H.M. @ 130) earned the Class 4, 130-pound state championship with 3-0 win against Park Hill’s Russell Coleman. Lapaglia finishes the season with a 44-3 record.
Lapaglia was methodical in his match against Coleman as neither found an advantage in the first period. The sophomore then spent the second period trying to turn Coleman from the top position, but was unsuccessful.
Lapaglia got an escape and a late takedown in the third to seal the win.
“I just wrestled, like whatever comes to me,” Lapaglia said of his game plan.
