The moment had finally arrived, and Cody Brewer (No. 8 @ 130) — who had been downplaying it all week — couldn’t help but yell.
And pump his fist.
And leap into the arms of his older brother, Dustin.
Yes, becoming a four-time state champion means plenty to Brewer, a senior 130-pounder from Oak Park who became only the 20th wrestler in Missouri history to accomplish the feat thanks to his 9-3 victory over Grant Leeth of Kearney on Saturday.
“The moment it happened, I thought — it’s over, it’s done,” Brewer said of the joy that washed over him. “It means a lot to me — more than I was saying earlier.”
