Jade Rauser (No. 6 @ 125) and Val Rauser (No. 9 @ 130) add to State Titles

That roar heard from the Hamilton High School gym was the sound of history being made.

Townsend senior Jade Rauser (No. 6 @ 125) capped his amazing high school career with a fourth state championship on Saturday during the finals of the State B-C wrestling meet. Rauser beat Glasgow’s Braden Hallock to win the 119-pound weight class and finish his career with an amazing 175-0 record.

The most-anticipated match of the weekend ended up being the first final of the night based on a random drawing of starting weights. Rauser won by major decision, 15-3, and before he could even get up off the mat, an appreciative crowd at Dale Berry Court was already on its feet giving Rauser a rousing ovation.

Joining Jade Rauser was his twin brother, Val Rauser (No. 9 @ 130), who won his third individual title by beating Forsyth’s Brandon Weber, 17-7, in their 130-pound final.

“I wish it would’ve been four, but three is just as good,” Jade said. “We’ll have to go celebrate at the hotel.  Eat some pizza and get fat.”

Val, who has lost only five times in his prep career, was a state runner-up as a sophomore.
