When a dual meet comes down to the final match, it’s nice to have an undefeated wrestler going for your side.
Hinsdale Central heavyweight Jack Allen (36-0) capped off an unbeaten regular season by pinning Glenbard West’s Brendan Gilligan in 1:26 Friday night in Glen Ellyn, sealing a 33-24 West Suburban Silver Conference victory for the Red Devils.
The eighth-ranked Red Devils begin post-season action Saturday, Feb. 5 in a Class 3A regional meet at Naperville Central. They will be the favorites to win the 11-team meet, but will be challenged by 14th-ranked West Aurora and No. 22 Downers Grove North.
