It’s not often a wrestling program returns three three-time state champions, but Monroeville is doing just that.
Hunter Stieber, Cam Tessari and Chris Phillips are all back to attempt what only 19 wrestlers in the history of the state have done — win four state titles.
Logan Stieber, the eldest of the highly-touted Monroeville Four, graduated after last season as the most recent athlete to accomplish the feat.
The four led the Eagles to the program’s first Division III state championship last season.
“It was a huge accomplishment for our school and the community,” head coach Scott Bauer said. “It’s something that we had been working hard toward for a long time and came close the past couple years.”
