Intermat JJ Classic Wrestling Tournament – 103 Preview

The 103-pound weight class at the 2010 InterMat JJ Classic includes several wrestlers with national and regional credentials.

Tristan Manderfeld (Foley, MN) was a Northern Plains runner-up in freestyle and Greco-and earned All-American honors in folkstyle this year. He also won state titles this year in freestyle and Greco-Roman in both the Cadet and Junior divisions.

Jarred Oftedahl (Benilde-St. Margaret’s, MN) is a multiple-time Cadet Nationals All-American, 2009 Folkstyle Nationals champion, Northern Plains double champion, and went a combined 19-1 (freestyle and Greco-Roman) this past summer at the Cadet National Duals. Oftedahl gave up a considerable amount of weight as a high school freshman, weighing less than 90 pounds, but still put together a solid season and won over 30 matches en route to qualifying for the state tournament. He competed at 91 pounds this past summer, but is now weighing over 100 pounds and is expected to be in the mix to win a state title this season as a sophomore.

Josh Alber (Dakota, IL) was a Preseason Nationals champion last season in the middle school division at 91 pounds. He also claimed a title at the Ohio Tournament of Champions and placed third at Folkstyle Nationals last season. Eighth-grader Robert Lee (Menasha, WI) is a 2010 Liberty Nationals champion and four-time state champion. Seventh-grader Michael Tlougan (Byron, MN) is a four-time state champion, Indy Nationals champion, and runner-up at Tulsa Nationals, Big Horn Nationals, and Liberty Nationals.

Collin DeGrammont (Lakeville, MN) has placed several times in state events (NYMA and MN/USA) and is also a past Big Horn Nationals placewinner. Trey Blaha (Cedar Rapids Prairie, IA) is a multiple-time state placewinner and member of Team Iowa. Levi Marsh (Lake Crystal Welcome Memorial, MN) has placed in Northern Plains and multiple times in MN/USA state events. Nate Jozsa was an Indy Nationals runner-up this year. He has placed in numerous regional and national events, including Northern Plains and Corncob Nationals.

Louie Sanders (Madelia-Truman, MN) has placed at Northern Plains and state events (NYMA and MN/USA). Maolu Woiwor (Apple Valley, MN) was a Northern Plains placewinner this year and has placed several times in MN/USA state events.

Others wrestlers who could figure into the mix include Jake Trevis (East Ridge, MN) and James Goman (Trinity, MN).
