The winningest wrestler in the Minnesota prep record books is now Jackson County Central High School senior Travis Rutt.
Rutt’s record-breaking 247th high school win came Saturday at the Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton tournament.
Rutt won three matches in the tournament on the way to taking the 171-pound title.
His record-breaking win came in the semifinals when he pinned Matt Sieberg of St. Clair in 1 minute 29 seconds.
He moved into the top spot on the career wins list past Kirk Anderson of Barnesville, who broke the record at last year’s state tournament.
Rutt will wrestle for the University of Wisconsin next season.
