Kentucky Senior Elliott Martin carries 100+ win streak

Already a state champion, Seneca High School wrestler Elliott Martin recently reached another milestone.

The senior won his 100th consecutive high school match this month and will take a 102-match winning streak into tomorrow’s State Duals at Henry Clay.

“No, it’s not common to win that many in a row,” Seneca coach Chuck Anderson said. “I’ve had some guys get close to that situation, but there’s always something that got in the way.”

Martin long ago passed the previous school record of 56 consecutive wins, set by Dean Williams in 1998. Martin won the final match of his sophomore season to take fifth place in the state meet and finished 56-0 as a junior to capture the state title in the 103-pound weight class.

Martin is 45-0 this season and is ranked No. 1 in the state at 119 pounds by the Kentucky Wrestling Coaches Association.

Martin has not signed with a college but is getting looks from several NCAA Division I schools, Anderson said.
